pointers

Imagine you have a big treasure hunt in your house! You want to find a specific toy, but your house is too big to look everywhere at once. So, you write down clues on pieces of paper.

  • One clue might say “Go to the kitchen.”
  • Another clue might say “Look under the red chair.”

These pieces of paper are like pointers in computer code. They don’t hold the treasure itself, but they tell you exactly where to find it!

In computers, there are lots of hiding places for information (like toys in a house). Pointers are special instructions that say: “Don’t give me the information itself, but tell me where to look for it in the computer’s memory!”

This way, computers can find information quickly, just like you can find your toy by following the clues!
